Does this work for in-swing and out-swing gates?
This latch accommodates both in-swinging and out-swinging gates. For out-swinging gates, the latching portion of the set is installed on the side of the gate that it swings toward.
Is the Alta Latch a stainless steel gate lock?
This latch is a two-sided gate latch rather than a lock. It will hold a gate closed but does not have a key associated with its function.
I need to find a stainless gate lock.
While we carry the Alta, a 316 stainless steel gate latch, we don't have a stainless steel key lock for a gate. These are difficult to come by in the market. The closest product we have is a white bronze gate lock deadbolt.
What is the best two way gate latch?
In our opinion, the Alta Contemporary Latch is among the best that exists in stainless gate hardware. We designed it for long-term trouble-free function.

The Alta is an excellent double fence gate latch. You'll install the latch on the active gate, so that panel opens and closes regularly. Then you'll use a cane bolt on the inactive gate to hold that side down to the ground.
I'm looking for the best latch for double gate. Is the Alta something I should consider?
Our modern stainless steel gate latch will work perfectly on a two panel double gate. Install it to the active panel and you're all set.

A gate stop is needed on all gates. The stops that we have are attached to the gate and catch on the post when the gate is pushed closed. The stop maintains the proper alignment so that the latch can latch, but won’t be damaged if the gate is slammed.
