Gate stops are essential for the longevity of your gate latch and gate. They protect a gate from "over-closing" due to wind or slamming, and prevent a gate latch-arm from bending or breaking. Our recommendation is that you install your heavy duty gate stop to the gate itself. When the gate closes, the gate stop will be the first thing to 'catch' on the post and will allow the latch's arm to fall into place without stress.
