A set of 3 heavy duty 4" hinges can support an average gate (~60 lbs). Heavier gates should use a set of 3 heavy duty ball-bearing hinges or 4.5" ball-bearing hinges. Heavier than about 100 lbs, or for driveway gates, we suggest strap hinges.
